This was how it looked like before the paint job and all. In fact , this bike in the photo belongs to wee hou which was pretty much revamped already , the original geek in the pink looks much tattered and part less as compared to the one you are looking at now. I wished i had taken photos of the process but time wasn't keen on letting me do that as i got to complete the bikes before Christmas.
The first two weeks of the ordeal basically had me scourging the bike sheds for usable parts for the geek . I also stripped the parts and paint from the frame during that period of time. It was already two weeks before Christmas when i managed to do all of those.
Then I had to paint of the primer coat, the first coat of paint which prevents rust and all, on the frame and fork. It was a seriously taxing ordeal as i had to wrapped stuffs up and i hate the smell of the paint which eventually made me ill during the first coat. Lucky i bought a mask from daiso for the next round of coating.
Browsing the colour charts for the coloured paint, i decided that i should go on with pink as I'm giving the bike to my sister. Well, the idea was to add a little feminine touch to the bike but seriously, I like the bike so much now. Its grabbing attention every where i ride it to.
On the third week , Zj decided that he doesn't want to take his bike home from school and decided to give it out , thus i gladly stripped many of his parts and placed them onto the geek. His parts really gave the geek a good bling of red.
Painting the bikes requires a person to very patient and meticulous. Even after saturating my self with notes about painting frames from the web site, i still get mistakes such as tear drops and uneven coating. Resulting in a touch up, or even worst, I had to start the entire process again once when it was really bad. That seriously crippled my process as i needed the frame to be ready to be able to put the parts on. If not for the few sunny days before Christmas , the frame wouldn't dry and i won't be able to give the bike to my sis for Christmas.
Christmas eve's afternoon saw me mounting all the parts on to the bike . "From what seems nothing , to actually a very awesome looking bike"as quoted from what cheng ann (Sp adventurer's ex president) the bike was finally done up just after lunch .
The more I look at it , the more i'm falling in love with the geek in the pink. Its named after the song as I was cycling it back home when the Dj played the song over the radio. I'm glad wee hou helped me through out the bike stripping process which was the most painful . Then there was also cheng ann who helped me out during the bike mounting process , and I can't be more grateful to have sweetenor accompanying me through out eve without aircon and enduring my greasy hands and sweaty shirt for almost the entire month when i spent working on the bikes. Thanks hun for being understanding and supportive... One sweet ride done up, next up, marcus's bike ........
