Talk to Your Boyfriend So He'll Listen

I've noticed how some of my female friends are always complaining about their bf being a dumb ass or just a plain o'jerk. Seriously, i don't think thats the case, they're probably just not catching the same frequency as you, thus displaying their dis interest, so here are a few tips to think about during lunch or so , that might change that perception.

Talk side by side

If you're broaching a potentially sticky subject (stuff like your wanting to get married, or his partying too much), avoid a face-to-face conversation. "Although it seems counterintuitive, insisting on eye contact while hashing out an issue can actually make the problem worse," says Scott Haltzman, M. D., co-author of The Secrets of Happily Married Women. Looking him directly in the eye can make him feel threatened—and when confronted, men instinctively kick into survival mode, triggering a fight-or-flight response. To put him at ease, talk to your boyfriend while you're doing something side by side—walking, driving, eating dinner together on the sofa.

Cut to the chase

According to a study recently published in the journal NeuroImage, the male brain interprets men's voices as speech and women's voices as music. That's why he can easily focus when one of his buddies drones on about some lame computer game, yet has to work overtime to concentrate on your bitch-of-a boss tale. To ensure that he hangs on your every word, make your point as quickly as possible. "Men want to get to the bare bones of the matter," Haltzman says. "So grab his attention by using direct statements such as 'Here's why I'm upset' or 'The bottom line is this.'"

Let him know you need to vent

When you're telling your guy about your backstabbing best friend and he looks confused, it's not because you're not explaining yourself clearly or he's slow on the uptake. Biological differences make men innate problem solvers; the furrowed brow indicates that his mind is scrambling to find a solution. "When a woman presents a man with a dilemma, he interprets this as a request to fix her problem, not to simply listen," Haltzman says. Clue him in by letting him know what you need before you make your point. Try prefacing your story with "I just really need to get this off my chest." By telling him what you expect up front, he'll know what to do and be able to give you what you really want: his ear.

Stroke his ego

If it seems like every time you ask him for a favor your words go in one ear and out the other, you may need to butter him up more. Men are brimming with testosterone, which makes them competitive, and compliments help them feel important and superior. Let's say he never hangs out with your friends. Feed his ego by saying something like "You're so funny! Actually, my friends could use some cheering up. Can you come out with us tonight?" The positive reinforcement will challenge him to rise to the occasion, and the vote of confidence will make him feel needed.

Well, this is quite an honest point of view on stuffs from a guy's perspective, to women who think we're complex, WE ARE THAT COMPLEX, so, do some home work yea . =)

The body world

So, I've finally decided to make more efficient use of my weekend other then just developing fat cells this week, thus , I dragged myself to visit the latest and hottest exhibit in town...
The body world
For those who don't know what it is about, its actually an exhibition, displaying corpse, stripped layer by layer from their skin to their bones surgically, displaying the various human anatomy.
Interestingly enough, instead of feeling horrified with the displays i saw, I find myself scrutinizing at the different details of the human body with the occasional " ooh, i didn't know I have those...".
Perhaps, through this enriching session, I begin to appreciate my body more and at the same time, I gain awareness of how to take care of it. Of course, maybe I'm just intimidated by the abominations born from the various diseases out there.
Nonetheless, I salute the effort put in by the people who made these appalling sculptures. I couldn't imagine myself having the patience nor courage to work with corpse for so long, no, I'm not afraid of blood. If you haven't went for the show before , you should probably do, its really worth the 2000 cents you pay at the entrance.
By the way, ba gua , any one?=D

Batam escape

We needed to take a break. We needed to go a place where we don't understand the language and the food. We needed to go to a place where NS and ERP makes no sense. We needed to go somewhere where the mention of roti prata and hainanese chicken rice will be responded with puzzled looks. We needed to get out of Singapore. But we were 2 yet rich people who had only S$200 each to spend. So we went to Batam. The place where food is cheap, transport is cheap, hotel is cheap, massage is cheap and ah peks are dicks... I can't think of anything that is expensive there.

We we're not rich yet, so we took the ferry instead of a private jet. Its quite a relaxing 45min ride less the cramp on the shoulder due to an unexplained weight acting on it.
Food was aplenty on the little island and because its cheap, everything taste good ! I mean seriously, the food is really good.

What can go wrong with A & W's root beer float eh! We're craving for it so much that we had to get a mug the moment we arrive at Batam centre.

One of the greater perks for me at batam is that I felt so much richer when i got my hands to the rupiahs. Ay, look at these, glorious monetary digits .Ah, and did i mention that shopping at batam meant scoring lots of cheap brand inspired products too?
The hospitality of the people of Batam was up most pleasing . Our taxi driver in this case, waited for us every time we alighted at our destination. His friendly gesture really beat alot of service personnel in Singapore hands down . How ever, it kind of brings the paranoia part of me out when strangers start doing such nice things to me. =s

This is my Godzilla sized Malay masseuse(p.s. the one on the left, although they both looked Godzilla size) who speaks in a weird attempting to seduce voice. Despite her failed attempt , i would say that she did a pretty good job during the 2 hours session. Whats more, I spent only a mere 22 bucks for the oil therapy massage. Ay, i felt like a slut for being so cheap~

A new interest....

I think i'm so gonna get a confirmed death sentence after this post..

Theres been a spike in interest in this certain activity that i've been watching people do and i've yet to do it. This sudden enthusiasm was secretly brought forward and almost materialising.Put a kayak , a Jc and some fishing equipment together, you've got kayak Fishing! Ta dah~

See how fun it is!? Its freaking cool right...paddle fish, paddle fish.. You'll get to work out , get a tan , look good and fish at the same time! How perfect could that even be? Fishing is always done in slacks and flip flops with a bunch of old fags smoking around me acting so pro. Input a kayak into it would make it way much cooler then it has even been.

Its also so easy to own one now because the kayaks are all compact and all so you wouldn't have to rent a space at the marina to park it there. There are like fold able ones that could be pack into bags and stored at home and all. How COOL is that !
For a minimal price of just around 2.6 K, you get to own a pretty neat kayak already! With paddles some more! How cool is that! Whats more, I've already found a kayak buddy, the trusty Ernest who actually thought its quite cool to kayak.I just have to persuade him that its worth the money to get one and off we go!

ok,i'm glad that i'm in camp protected by barb wires and soldiers holding guns while i type all these... p.s. i could get a double seater so we could go kayaking together!

A broken rod , a busted line, a fallen soul..

You were so dear to me...
When ever i'm down , bored or just plain itching to fish, you are always there for me...
We shared many joyous moments together in the wilderness, as close to nature as it could be.
I still remember the first time i saw you, felt your tenderness, I knew you're the one....
You bring me many many many wonderful experiences and left great memories..
I'm sorry I pushed you to your limits..I should have known...

I don't know what I'm gonna do without you.. I won't forget you my friend...Rest in pieces buddy...

Thats actually..

quite a corny post ..

isn't it? XD

Don't taint me with ur purity and innocence

No one told me it will be like this,
No one followed my trail,
No one consented,
No one thought of my consequences,
No one figured me out,
No one was there....

I'm starting to talk to myself...

This is bad, this prolonged solitude and boredom has led me onto a path of self delusion and is wrecking my mental well being...

I can't find any one to rant to any more...

.nuff said.

Peanut butter banana pancakes ..

So, I'm back.

Hell isn't that bad after all =)I'm sure they don't sell booze there though..

The trip opened my vision alil wider, made me alil stronger . Ah, and did i mentioned, i lost like 7 kgs during the ordeal. The highest rate so far , come join my training peeps who wants to shed some weight =D
So I'm going to go for a very long walk soon. Sigh, i suspect that by the end of it, something very interesting would happen...

So, i had time off for the past couple of days. Sigh, i'm a pretty lonely person now. I hate nus, they robbed stuffs from me.Oh well, least I had some people to stt and whine to.

I had a good look at Ted for the first time. To my dear SBF, ted seems like a nice person. although i had the most akward conversation with him i think he'ld make it to the nice and sweet guy list( sth which doesn't include even me).

Caught up with Jy yesterday morning at the lake. Now that i'm back, he is flying off to thai land. Curses, its so hard to get a fishing kaki now adays.. This is what we've got ..
Very much wanted to watch transformers, but i just can't find the right time slot or people to watch with. I think its destined somehow that i either watch it alone or don't watch it at all. Sigh, i can't get to see MR megan fox in action.
Hmm... 41 days more until something good happens. Sigh, how am i gonna survive till then. Time to re summon my minions and get occupied...
